If Only... Mike Quick

In early March, No. 1 St. Anthony and No. 2 Lincoln played a hard-fought scrimmage that, for those keeping score, St. Anthony (minus two Dvision 1 players) won by one. Of course that game didn't count and what a shame it is that this already long season couldn't have one more game that counted between our No. 1 and No. 2 teams.

The two-time defending PSAL Champs put on an absolute show in Glenns Falls this weekend, winning a second consecutive NYS Federation title by blowing out Catholic League Champ, our then No.3 Holy Cross.

So the final poll is set with only one change this week - Holy Cross falls one spot to No. 4 and St. Benedict's finishes at No.3. Enjoy the off season!

In the latest video blog, Mike Quick and Jimmy Cavallo talk about legendary Archbishop Molloy coach Jack Curran.

BOYS:

Lance Stephenson - Guard
Lincoln HS, NY
6-foot-6, Junior

A year ago, Stephenson while picking up the MVP in the PSAL championships, shot 11 of 15 as the Coney Island school beat Boys & Girls.

This year, one of the nation's top players almost matched what he did a year ago in winning a third consecutive PSAL title, 88-57 over Boys & Girls. The three-year starter was 10 of 15 for 27 points, picking up his second straight MVP award.

Lincoln now will play Bishop Maginn in the Federation AA Semifinals on March 29 in Glens Falls, NY.

GIRLS:

Christine Huber - Center
St. John The Baptist HS, LI
6-foot-4, Junior

Major colleges all over America are interested in one of the Tri-State's top players who last week put two games together that led the Suffolk County school to their first-ever CHSAA AA State title.

In Wednesday's 63-49 semifinal victory over St. Michaels, she scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Four days later, in leading our No. 2 past Molloy for the state title, she turned in a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks.

SJB now advances to the Federation championship on March 30 in Glens Falls, NY.
